Hi! 👋
I’m Hassan Bagheri — a physics MSc and a teaching enthusiast. I started teaching in 1998, at every level of schooling, and for about a decade taught high-school physics continuously.
There’s also a hard truth: teaching, at least for me, was never particularly rewarding financially. So for years my main job has been software — a passion I first fell in love with in an “Introduction to Numerical Computing” course at university. I currently work as a programmer, right now on web applications. But if I score physics at 100, computers come in at 50 — and there is nothing else between them. 🤓
This site is, honestly, a way to return some of my time to that first love — physics.
International experience 🏆
Since 2009, I’ve had the honor of working with the International Young Physicists’ Tournament (IYPT), both as a coach and as a juror. If you’re unfamiliar with IYPT: it’s one of the most prestigious student physics competitions in the world — but nothing like fast-paced multiple-choice tests. In IYPT, students work on an open, real-world problem for months, run experiments, build theory, and finally take the stage to defend it verbally and field tough questions from the opposing team.
That experience deeply changed how I think about physics education — I learned that the most important thing in physics isn’t “knowing” but thinking. And that’s what I try to bring to every lesson, every problem, and every flashcard on this site.
My philosophy 🎨
Physics is like poetry. Physics problems are like paintings and poems — you just have to learn their language. 🖼️
I’m not going to turn you into a physicist. My goal is to make you love physics. If you leave this site and only one thing sticks — that physics can be beautiful — my job is done. The rest you’ll pursue on your own, driven by curiosity.
Something similar about programming: a programmer is someone who writes poetry in a different language. Learning a computer language is easier than learning a foreign one — but skill comes with practice and love. If you want to be a good programmer, you have to be the kind of person who sits down at the computer in the morning and then realizes wait, it’s night — I haven’t even had breakfast! ☕
